KEY PARTNERSHIPS

Helen Macpherson Smith Trust
– GO FOR BROKE

Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) is the proud recipient of a grant from the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust for its Emerge Cultural Enterprise & Development Program – “Go for Broke” for 2017 and 2018.

MAV’s Find-An-Artist program provides work opportunities to hundreds of local artists from diverse cultural backgrounds to a broad range of clients across the public and private sector.  This investment allows MAV to be more proactive in seeking markets for artists, being more effective in responding to clients and more strategic in tailoring and promoting the product to new markets. Most importantly, it provides work opportunities to hundreds of brilliant local artists from diverse cultural backgrounds to a broad range of clients across all industries.

‘Go for Broke’ aligns with several the objectives of the Trust’s Grants program.  The program takes a partnership approach to develop the skills and capacity of individuals, groups and communities across metropolitan and regional areas with lasting cultural benefits for Victorians.

Gandel Philanthropy
– Emerge Cultural Leadership Program

Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) is the proud recipient of a Gandel Philanthropy Major Grant for the Emerge Cultural Leadership Program in 2016 -2018. This generous support enables MAV to work with artists and communities from emerging refugee, culturally diverse and Indigenous backgrounds in outer metropolitan and regional localities in Victoria.

Emerge Cultural Leadership will foster new cultural leaders from emerging communities and help strengthen engagement and dialogue between cultures. It will also make more visible and celebrate the achievements of local emerging refugee, culturally diverse and Indigenous communities. The core activities will include artistic mentoring, seeding new cultural projects and enterprises, cultural management and creative industries workshops, and an Ambassadors program.

The program aligns with Gandel Philanthropy’s mission statement, to empower communities to deliver programs that will create a positive and lasting impact on their quality of life, as well as to help build stronger, more resilient, more vibrant and more inclusive communities.

Victorian Multicultural Commission

MAV’s long-standing partnership with the VMC began in 2005, where MAV programmed the live performance program for the annual Premier’s Gala Dinner during Victoria’s Cultural Diversity Week. Over the years, MAV’s contribution has expanded to include programming the huge range of performances and activities over the week.

Cultural Diversity Week culminates with the Victoria’s Multicultural Festival at Federation Square, a vibrant celebration of the state’s diversity. Over 50,000 people converge for this incredible day festival. Cultural Diversity Week was established in 2003 and is held annually to coincide with the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Federation Square
– New Year’s Eve

To herald in the new year in a style unique to Melbourne, MAV has worked with Federation Square since 2014 in co-producing Federation Square’s New Year’s Eve event, bringing a kaleidoscope of colour and movement to the square that reflects the rich cultural diversity of Melbourne.

Regional Centre for Culture
