MAV Update: COVID-19

During the current situation of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus), MAV will continue to work as a team to support our artists and communities.

Following the recent impact of the bushfires, the pandemic has led to the cancellation and postponement of hundreds of projects, concerts, conferences, events and festivals across Australia and across the world.

MAV is acutely aware of the situation for artists whose creative practices and incomes are being severely impacted by COVID-19.

As well as the devastating impact on artists’ livelihoods, the isolation is likely to have a far-reaching effect on individuals’ mental health and wellbeing.

Are you an artist or arts worker?
Here are some ways that may assist you at this critical time.

How you can help artists

Donate

This is the opportunity for you to use the MAV Donate option to directly support culturally diverse artists, many of whom are experiencing significant financial hardship as a result of lost income.

MAV is committed to ensuring that any donations go directly to artists in the form of financial support. Please help us to support our community of artists during these challenging times.

Support Act

Support Act are launching an appeal to raise $20m so that we can provide some level of crisis relief to music workers who are facing financial hardship.

Support Act need to raise these funds in order to be in a position to provide the support that is being requested by our community.

Support Act will make an announcement once they are able to do this.

Book an Artist

As we adjust to a new way of living and working, it’s never been more important to have music and art in your life.

Work with us to think creatively about how you can continue to support the arts and engage with artists. Are you running staff meetings online, perhaps? How about including entertainment and workshops for your virtual lunch time get together?

Contact us to workshop your ideas for keeping art alive in your homes, schools, workplaces and universities.
Email Arik Blum at arik.blum@multiculturalarts.com.au to explore your ideas.

Most importantly, please take the health and safety of our community seriously, and practise social distancing, and self-isolation if you are unwell to slow the spread of COVID-19. For more information about COVID-19, click here.

MAV is following the advice of federal and state governments on social distancing, by supporting our staff to work from home.
As such, the office phone will be unattended for the foreseeable future.
Please stay in contact with us however, by email and mobile phones.
(All MAV staff emails are available here)

We are keen to hear from you, especially if you need additional support.
For any enquiries contact MAV at office@multiculturalarts.com.au.
