Paper Culture II

April 18, 2015 @ 9:00 am - April 22, 2015 @ 5:00 pm

$10 – $20

Multicultural Arts Victoria is proud to support the presentation of Paper Culture II in China that presents the first survey of works by Australian artist Philip Faulks alongside works by Chinese master paper cut artists Zhou Yunhua and Zhou Bing.

The exhibition expands the artists’ first meeting and collaborations for Paper Culture in MAV’s Mapping Melbourne festival in December 2014 and offers a rare exploration of paper works that span a diverse range of intercultural and multicultural influences and new techniques with one of China’s oldest traditions.

Paper Culture II will also include a series of lectures – presented by the artists, MAV CEO Jill Morgan AM and exhibition curator Damian Smith – at Jiangsu University of Technology and Changzhou Institute of Technology in China. The Paper Culture project was founded to create a platform of cultural exchange between China and Australia and to showcase diversity through art practices in both countries whilst strengthening links between artists, art organisations and governments through the visual arts.

The Australian cultural delegation attending the Paper Culture II exhibition will include: MAV CEO Jill Morgan AM, exhibition curator Damian Smith, Director of Time of Art Marcus Wong; VMES representatives Christy Guo and Jackie Song, and CEO from Australia Asia Finance Hub Nolan Neo.
