POSTPONED

Shepparton’s own Heard Instinct Collective will present a very special young artists’ stage at this year’s Converge Festival on Saturday 28 March from 4pm till 8pm.

The stage will be located at the Victoria Park Lake Skate Park and will feature a massive line up of local emerging young artists of colour as well as a talent quest for young singers, rappers, beatboxers and poetry slammers with a $500 first prize.

From our roots in Yorta Yorta country, to African and gospel inspired hip hop music and dance, to the smooth vocals and soul of the Pacific Islands, the Lakeside Hustle stage will celebrate a new generation of contemporary music talent with performances by: Heard Instinct Collective, Madi Colville Walker, Bricky B, Uncle Buck, Ree, Yung Kily Jons, Flexing Twice, Kingroseupnext, 114, Johnny Le Croix, DJ Rivity Rascal and more.

There will also be the Heard Talent Quest happening from 6pm which is open to young singers, rappers, beatboxers and poetry slammers aged 12 -25 years living in the Greater Shepparton area.
Judges will be choosing a winner based on performance skills, talent, originality and presentation with a first prize of $500 and prizes for runners up.

Register for the Heard Talent Quest

Produced with support from MAV and The Push, the Lakeside Hustle stage will showcase artists who have been involved with a self-determined platform for local young artists of colour, Heard Instinct Collective.

Heard Instinct Collective is a creative collective for young artists of colour to learn with peers and with professional artists and producers, to  share stories and ideas, develop skills in songwriting, arranging recording, and to raise visibility and voice for young people of colour in the region through public performances.

Support for this event has come from The Push via the Victorian Government Community Support Fund as well as MAV and Australia Council for the Arts.
