Acclaimed Local Artist TONY YAP Awarded Australia Council DANCE FELLOWSHIP 2008
Multicultural Arts Victoria congratulates Tony Yap on being awarded a two year dance fellowship from Australia Council for the Arts.
The fellowship will allow Tony Yap, a long standing MAV member to undertake a two-year program of activity that includes the creative development of a major solo work, Buddha Body Series. His aim is to widen his experience and creative links as an Australian artist in Asia, establish the Tony Yap Company as a company for collaborative connections to network primarily in Asia and internationally and to continue to nurture an appreciation of challenging contemporary Asian Arts to audiences from all multicultural backgrounds...more.

MAV welcomes Indigenous Youth Trainee - Little G AKA Gina Chrisanthopoulos
Little G AKA Gina Chrisanthopoulos, has joined the MAV team as a trainee on the Black Harmony Gathering. MAV will train and give professional experience in all aspects of coordination of the event to Gina as a young member of the Indigenous community. Gina draws inspiration from her Aboriginal and Greek backgrounds when rapping, dancing and performing. After studying Indigenous Performing Arts at Swinburne University, Little G earned herself a name performing as the lead in the hit hip-hop musical Bass Anger which confronted issues of friendship, violence, racism and love...more.
