Street Party

Produced by Multicultural Arts Victoria in partnership with Maribyrnong City Council, the inaugural Emerge in the West Festival will see Footscray's Nicholson St come alive with a massive, feel-good street party welcoming a wave of amazing new cultures and talents from local African communities who have made Maribyrnong their home in recent years.

The main stage will project the sounds of an amazingly diverse all local line up of African dance grooves, Sudanese reggae, Ethiopian jazz, Azmari banter, Somali pop, traditional Burundian drums, West African dance & Cape Verdean Reggae! African Town restaurant will host a cultural stage featuring traditional artists from Sudan & Ethiopia.

Be dazzled by a fashion parade featuring local young people in traditional and contemporary African Aussie dress! And don't miss the African Walking Bus Tour led by your local tour guide Bersanji Ibrahim who will lead you to some of Footscray's hidden gems and undiscovered delights!
