Jazz Afrique (playing Saturday 2 April)

The Mix It Up! program continues in 2011 with Saturday Sessions, a weekly celebration of musical influences from around the globe.

Staged in the Famous Spiegel Garden on Saturday afternoons, the program features artists from diverse cultures in ticketed and free performances.

There's also art displays, workshops, dancing and more.

Gospel in the Garden

Cross cultural choral and gospel music
eTags Gospel Choir and Angels' Voices grace the mainstage along with gospel DJs and decorative art displays in the garden.

Pacific Soundwaves

Surf music and sounds of the South Pacific
Performances from Middle Eastern surf rock band The Reefers with music and dance from Pacific Islander and Maori groups.

Global Blues

The universal sound of the blues
From the swamp sounds of Collard Greens & Gravy to the heavy Greek ballads of Rebetiki, hear interpretations of the blues from diverse backgrounds.

Drum & Groove

Percussive styles from across the globe
Feel the rhythm of the drum from across the Asian world and beyond with the Eastern Beat Project. Plus there’s a dynamic performance from the African Royal Drummers.

Soul Experience

Sweet rhythms from Melbourne’s soul scene
Music from the melodic blend of Electric Empire along with hard hitting Hammond Organ Trio - Cookin on 3 Burners with Kylie Auldist.

The Silk Road

A musical trail from the Balkans to the Orient
Mainstage performances feature the unique fusion of Unified Gecko and contemporary sounds of the east from Sitars n Bleeps

Saturday 2 April from 1:30pm
Jazz Afrique

An afternoon swing of Ethio Jazz
Enjoy the afro influence of two nine piece ensembles, Ethio Jazz/Hip-Hop group the Black Jesus Experience plus fine horn sounds from Dereb The Ambassador.
