Claudia Escobar, theatre-maker and Multicultural Arts Victoria's Marketing, Development and Contemporary Cultures Officer was last night awarded the prestigious Keith and Elisabeth Murdoch Travelling Fellowship award at the VCA.
The Fellowship is offered every two years to theatre graduates to assist with overseas travel expenses and provides financial support during the formative years of professional development.
Chair of Multicultural Arts Victoria Stefan Romaniw congratulated Claudia Escobar. "MAV has a very talented and creative team. This award will enable Claudia to further her career in the arts internationally and will allow her create strong artistic and cultural connections between her country of heritage Colombia and Australia."

Claudia Escobar, who completed her Master of Theatre Practice at the VCA in 2008 has been working in area of theatre and the arts since her arrival in Australia in 2007. "Art is my language, it's the only way I can communicate how I really feel about the world" says Claudia
"I have no doubt Claudia’s work through the generous support of Keith and Elisabeth Murdoch Scholarship will enable greater visibility and representation of the underrepresented voice both locally and internationally in theatre and the arts." stated Jill Morgan MAV Executive Officer
As an individual artist and arts worker this fellowship will not only assist Claudia in the advancement of her career but will also benefit the many diverse communities and artists she liaises and works closely with on a daily basis.
