Forum
The Forum will look at inter-cultural dialogue through the eyes of two of Melbourne's Emerging communities: Sudanese (Africa) and Kiribati (Pacific).
It will be an insight into political and environmental displacement that has led to the communities' resettlement in Melbourne.
The Forum will provide a dialogue on the impact and social effects that get activated when artists and communities get together to create within a contemporary and globalised context.
The Talanoa Forum is part of the Talanoa – Walk the Talk VII Project, commissioned by Multicultural Arts Victoria.
An inspiring cultural arts project, where internationally renowned Japanese/Samoan artist Shigeyuki Kihara applies the ancient Samoan concept of talanoa - a practice of talking through matters of cultural and social importance - with the Sudanese and Kiribati communities of Melbourne, as part of the instalment of her Talanoa - Walk the Talk series.
Members of the public working within and interested in cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue are strongly encouraged to attend.
Talanoa - Walk the Talk VII live public performance between Dambai Dancing Group of Sudan, Te Roro n Rikirake Kiribati Youth Group and Shigeyuki Kihara: 3pm - VCAM Café Courtyard, Southbank campus.
