Rhythm and Rights, the music and dance component of the 2010 Human Rights Arts and Film
Festival, will this year be held from 1pm-5:30pm on Saturday the 8th of May at the CERES
Environmental Park in Brunswick.
The event is set to bring together some of Melbourne's most
talented artists for an exciting and vibrant day of music, dance, art, comedy, street performance,
stalls and food from around the world.
Through cultural and artistic expression, Rhythm and Rights is a celebration of the many rich and
dynamic communities that exist in Melbourne.
Comedy
This year the event will be hosted by comedian
Trent McCarthy and will be headlined by Mista Savona and his seven piece band who will delight
crowds with their raw, authentic roots reggae and dancehall music.
Music
Other feature musicians will include Reflejos, whose Latin rhythms will get your toes tapping, Ajak
Kwai, who will excite you with her compelling vocal style and delightfully wry sense of the absurd,
and Kundalila, who draw from the groups many cultural backgrounds to create a unique a Capella
and acoustic sound.

Dance
Alongside the musicians, Rhythm and Rights will also showcase Melbourne's dance groups
Legacy Fam, an incredible 5 piece krumping group that will make the crowd go wild, and
Wassawumba, whose traditional West African dance, vibrant costumes and tribal grooves will
uplift the spirit and invigorate the body.
Added to the dynamic array of amazing performances will be food, drink, art and market stalls from
around the world which will tempt collectors and tantalize the taste buds.
As a Festival aimed at promoting discussion and understanding of human rights, this event is a
chance to encourage greater cultural awareness, appreciation and collaboration.
