Multicultural Arts Victoria and AMES are collaborating to launch the inaugural New Heartlands Refugee Fine Art Prize 2010.
The Prize celebrates the creative talent and social contribution of visual artists from a refugee background.

Applications Invited - New Heartlands
Artists living in Australia since 1995, with beginning or established practices in painting, drawing, photography or mixed media, are encouraged to create work that reflects and expresses the theme of New Heartlands.

Prizes
With a total prize pool of $9,400.00, New Heartlands will be a unique opportunity to support the artistic output and career aspirations of refugee artists.
$3000 First Prize (Acquisitive to major partner AMES)
$2000 Second Prize (Acquisitive to major partner AMES)
$1200 Third Prize (Acquisitive to major partner AMES)
$800 Fourth Prize
$300 each for eight Special Mention Prizes
The prizes will be awarded in 2010 at an exhibition of short-listed works at Alliance Française Gallery in St Kilda, to be held from 16 November to 9 December 2010.
All prizewinners will feature in an AMES 2011 calendar to be launched on opening night of the exhibition.
All short-listed works (except 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize-winning works) will be available for purchase by the public.
