New Star Art School supported by Multicultural Arts Victoria will exhibit student's "EARTH --- Drawing on Nature" exhibition at Manningham gallery to celebrate the Cultural Diversity Week of Victoria 2010.

Drawing on Nature will feature the extraordinary talent of young Australian-Chinese artists from New Star Art School at Manningham Gallery. More than one hundred and thirty students have been asked to explore and discover the beauty and fragility of nature through creative expression.

The children come from a variety of backgrounds to explore and discover the nature beauty and develop an awareness, observation and appreciation of our environment through creative expression.

This project is also supported by Manningham City Council and the Victorian Multicultural Commission. Sponsored by IronFish Group and Newway Art &Gifts Gallery.

Yaping Jiang

Artist, teacher and founder of the New Star Arts School, Yaping Jiang encourages students to express what they see, do and feel as bi-cultural Australians, through a series of workshops and classes.

Jiang uses her many years of experience working in China and Australia, combined with Western teaching methods and traditional Chinese techniques. Jiang encourages students to express their creativity freely and feels that working on this exhibition has greatly enhanced students' self-confidence.

Connecting aspects of the East and the West, and connecting man’s relationship to the environment are major themes in Jiangs teaching.

"Through the visual image, these young artists reveal their feelings and experiences growing up in a culturally and environmentally diverse Australia", said Jiang.

Manningham Mayor, Cr Charles Pick encourages residents to participate in this exhibition. "This is a great exhibition that many in the Manningham community will appreciate." .
