Consultation - Sri Lankan Cultural Project

Expressions of interest are sought from Tamils, Sinhalese, Moors, Malays and Burghers of Sri Lanka currently residing in Melbourne for the development of a cultural project that unites the various communities in a new way.

The project working group has begun consultation with Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV), the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) and other professional artists.

Expressions of Interest

Community participation is invited to develop ideas for thecultural project. The cultural project can be a series of musical, theatre, performance, installation or other innovative artistic forms. The theme of the project will be an invention of a ‘new unity’ based on equality and mutual respect.

Experienced or aspiring visual, performance and multimedia artists from Burgher, Moor, Malay, Tamil and Sinhalese communities are invited to participate. Previous training in art practice is not required.

Individuals or groups from any age are encouraged to express interest.

We will be hosting a forum to discuss ideas and next steps. Jill Morgan, Executive Offi cer of MAV and Khaled Abdulwahab, Project Offi cer from MAV will be present in the evening. Light refreshments will be provided.
