ABC Music Deli Concert - Ajak Kwai and band CD Launch "Come Together"

Date: Tuesday 7th October
Time: 7pm for a 7:30pm start

Ajak Kwai Ajak Kwai

‘All My Wives’ is the first track on Ajak Kwai’s second album ‘Come Together’ which will be launched at the ABC Music Deli Concert in October. Sung in the native Dinka language, this song was described by Seth Jordan from Limelight magazine as "a killer example of raw Aussie/ Sudanese funk."

In Sudanese culture a man can have many wives. I wonder when is the right time for a woman to have many husbands?

Addressing the hardships of exile, the joys of love and calling for world peace, Ajak presents an array of songs displaying her magnificent vocal skills. Her music will come alive in concert through collaboration with an impressive lineup of musicians including Martin Tucker on keys, Conrad Henderson on bass, and fret man Chris Basile. Special guest Fabio Chivhanda, Zimbabwean mbira master currently living in Tasmania, will open the show.

Ajak Kwai

After eight years of exile in Cairo, Ajak migrated to Australia. Her songs reflect her desire to end the destruction of war. "As a woman I am passionate about peace because I have seen the price women pay for war."

This event is presented and produced by Multicultural Arts Victoria and ABC Radio National Music Deli alongside the Victorian Multicultural Commission. The CD was produced through the generous support of the Australia Council and is available for sale at the concert or online at www.ajakkwai.com

Come together and be a part of this vibrant night celebrating the extraordinary vocal talent of Ajak Kwai.
