Hosted by ABC Music Deli’s Paul Petran, this unique concert features the music of Way Out West which has been described as Vietnamese and African infused jazz, and has achieved international acclaim for this unique combination of influences.
Way Out West’s 2007 release, Old Grooves for New Streets has received widespread praise since its release including 2 five star reviews will be recorded live by ABC RADIO NATIONAL Music Deli in the historic Reading Room at the Fitzroy Town Hall. The repertoire of Way Out West extends the dialogue with notions of Australian cultural identity that has inspired the music of since the groups inception.

Joining Way Out West for this intimate performance will be Dang Kim Hein who will perform a set traditional Vietnamese folk music. She is regarded as one of the leading master-performers of the Vietnamese zither dan tranh in the world and holds a National Award on Performance of Vietnamese Traditional Vocal Music.
