Multicultural Arts Victoria last night was the winner of the 2008 National Multicultural Marketing Awards, small business category, for their successful Mix It Up! partnership program with the Arts Centre.

National Multicultural Marketing Awards Information.

Head of International and Agency Channels Retail Banking Services, Commonwealth Bank, Andy Wright presents the Small Business Award to Jill Morgan, Executive Officer, Multicultural Arts Victoria

Jill Morgan presented the Award at a Gala dinner held at the Grand Ball Room, Westin Hotel Sydney.

The Community Relations Commission NSW hosted the Awards which was attended by the Honourable Virginia Judge, MP, Minister for Citizenship, Minister for Fair Trading and Minister for Assisting the Premier on the Arts.

Mix It Up - Partnership

Mix It Up! is a unique collaboration between Multicultural Arts Victoria, an organisation strongly connected to the local community, and one of Melbourne’s major cultural institutions, the Arts Centre. The partnership has taken both organisations out of their comfort zones and has had a significant impact on organisational and individual learning. Staff from both organisations have developed new ways of working together and new connections within communities, government and important stakeholders.

Jill Morgan from Multicultural Arts Victoria states "Mix It Up! is an exciting, landmark program with the objective of engaging with and reflecting the cultural diversity of Victoria through the arts."

Mix It Up! enhances Multicultural Arts Victoria and the Arts Centre's leadership roles within the Victorian performing arts sector.

Rob Gebert, Manager of the Mix It Up! program at the Arts Centre states "It is a model program to inspire others to break out of traditional thinking in marketing and programming."

The marketing strategy for Mix It Up! is holistic and inclusive and involves a multi-layered approach. The established, highly experienced Arts Centre team work in partnership with Multicultural Arts Victoria on the program and marketing. Mix It Up! supports cultural and linguistically diverse artists and the development and presentation of new product for audiences from a range of cultural traditions.

Multicultural Arts Victoria and the Arts Centre are committed to ensuring access and equity for all, for both artists and audiences from culturally and linguistically diverse background.
