Last year the Arts Centre celebrated the influence of our Mediterranean heritage with Family Lunch at the Vineyard. This year the Arts Centre along with Australia Day Victoria celebrates and welcomes the Ethiopian, Senegalese and Sudanese communities who have come to Australia.

Building huts together, we acknowledge homes left behind by these communities and celebrate the new lives they have created here in Australia.

Over the course of the weekend come and enjoy the sounds and rhythms of the Dambai Dance Group, African Royal Drummers, St. Bakjita Choir and Jali Buba Kuyateh. Listen to traditional African stories while drinking a cup of Ethiopian Coffee.

VILLAGE CONSTRUCTION

The build of the huts will take place over two days (26 & 27 January).

CELBRATE THE BUILT VILLAGE - African Song and Dance

On Monday (28 January), once completed the lawn area will become a feast of music, song and dance. Local African handcrafts from several regions will be on display and traditional African food will be available daily.

This is a family alcohol free event.

Bring your own rug and food if you wish to welcome and celebrate another community of Australia, rich in tradition.

This will be a cultural experience of significance and not to be missed.
