Driven by Multicultural Arts Victoria, Visible is an innovative arts mentorship program that has given a kick start to many newly arrived African musicians and has seen a wealth of new African Australian music talent explode onto the arts scene both locally and internationally in the past three years. MAV’s Visible program has provided opportunities for talented African artists to develop and showcase their musical talents, whilst also offering the wider public a glimpse of the vibrant and diverse arts and culture they have brought with them to Australia.
Well known reggae artist, Nicky Bomba has played a key role in mentoring participating artists and recording the annual Visible CD. Bomba shares a vision of Melbourne as the emerging world music capital of Australia and says that the ideas, melodies, instruments and rhythms coming from artists in the Visible program have offer much to the Australian music industry. The Arts Centre too have come on board with an annual showcase of the Visible artists as part of their Mix It Up initiative.
