Tony Yap Company at BIWAKO Biennale 2007

Multicultural Arts Victoria is very pleased to announce Melbourne based performance company The Tony Yap Company (TYC) will present "E1-Aether", a ritualistic dance-installation in collaboration with Japanese lighting designers Genta Iwamura and Rie Uomori at the 3rd Biwako Biennale in Shiga prefecture on 18 November 2007.

TYC is an ensemble of independently accomplished professional artists including Malaysian born Australian dancer Tony Yap, Japanese born Australian visual artist Naomi Ota, Australian Indonesian vocalist Ria Soemardjo and Australian born contemporary musicians Tim Humphrey and Madeleine Flynn. Affiliated with Multicultural Arts Victoria the company aims to create a multi-modal art form which represents a contemporary Australian-Asian condition at international events.

    Biwako Biennale takes place amidst the beautiful landscape surrounding Lake Biwa, a beautiful Mother Lake located in the center of Omi Hachiman, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. Biwako Biennale will bring together in this unique place artists from all over the world to create artistic masterpieces inspired by the soul and spirit of Lake Biwa.
