GEORGE FAIRFAX ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP 2007
Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) Project Officer Anita Larkin has been awarded the George Fairfax Scholarship in Arts & Entertainment Management at Deakin University. The George Fairfax Scholarship, a generous new initiative covers course costs for the Graduate Certificate of Arts and Entertainment Management at Deakin University, plus a one-off payment towards books and incidental study expenses.
"Deakin University is a strong advocate for the advancement of arts leadership and the nurturing of young talent. This scholarship is a reflection of our enduring commitment to development of the Arts industry nationally ", Associate Professor Ruth Rentschler, Executive Director of the Centre for Leisure Management Research and program director of the arts and entertainment management program at Deakin University said today.
Anita was successfully nominated by MAV for the scholarship. Ms Jill Morgan Executive Officer of Multicultural Arts Victoria said, "Anita is very deserving of this scholarship. She is a highly skilled emerging arts manager with outstanding talent. As an individual artist and arts worker further study will not only assist Anita in the advancement of her career but will also benefit the many diverse communities and artists she liaises and works closely with on a daily basis. MAV congratulates her on this significant scholarship which is well deserved."
MAV Chairman Stefan Romaniw said, "Anita has contributed positively to Multicultural Arts Victoria and has inspired many diverse artists and communities to develop and achieve their cultural aspirations. She has demonstrated determination and commitment to become a leader in multicultural arts. We are very proud of her efforts and achievements."

Anita is currently responsible for project management of MAV’s significant ongoing program the Emerge Cultural Network, which assists new and emerging artists from refugee communities link with established professional artists. The program under her guidance and management has consistently demonstrated that excellence and community arts are not incongruous concepts. The high quality and innovative Emerge program received program funding and support from the Australia Council for the Arts in 2007.
Anita has assisted previously in the coordination the kultour national multicultural arts touring network, successfully creating significant new links with the Brisbane Festival and Playing Australia. She was also responsible for liaison with the Arts Centre for significant components of the Mix It Up program, the Arts Centre’s award winning cultural diversity initiative, created through funding from the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
