Celebrate our Cultural Diversity Week is being held between 17 - 23 March to mark the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination recognised annually on 21 March (also locally known as Harmony Day).

Celebremos! Latin Extravaganza

Thursday March 17, from 5:30pm until 8pm @ Federation Square FREE!

Kick off Diversity Week with a Latin Dance class, led by the acclaimed and inspirational Claudia de Oliveira.

Then practise your moves with two of Melbourne's best and smoothest Latin bands - Azucar and Sally Ford and the Pachuco Playboys.

The free Latin Extravaganza concert featuring Azucar and Sally Ford & the Pachuco Playboys will officially open Celebrate our Cultural Diversity Week. Claudia de Oliveira dance class with percussionist will assist the general public to learn how to dance Latin style.

Oxfam Community Aid Abroad will be fundraising for the Asian Tsunami appeal.

Celebremos! African Extravaganza

Wednesday March 23rd from 12 midday – 2pm Federation Square FREE!

Featuring King Marong and Afro Mandinko's traditional West African instruments and rhythms teamed up with modern instruments to create an eclectic hybrid that no-one can resist!

Followed by Musiki Manjaro's Pan-African style reflecting the origins of the members, who come from South Africa, Congo, Ghana, Malawi, Tanzania and Australia; vibrant, energetic all original African dance music.

Celebremos! Let’s Celebrate Our Cultural Diversity - is a free concert series presented by Multicultural Arts Victoria and supported by the Victorian Multicultural Commission, Federation Square and the City of Melbourne to mark Celebrate our Cultural Diversity Week 2005.

Cultural Diversity Week

More than 150 events will be held during and around Celebrate our Cultural Diversity Week with the Victorian Government having provided more than $120,000 to schools and local community groups to host their own activities.
