The rhythmic music cycles engage body and spirit resulting in a selfless and stateless movement of the body, while the “zikr” opens a path to divine spiritual ecstasy.
RIA SOEMARDJO – INDONESIA
Ria Soemardjo will totally immerse your senses with her exquisite music from West Java.
A leading musician with the Melbourne Community Gamelan, Ria is currently Melbourne’s only female performer of traditional Javanese and Sundanese (West Javanese) song.
VISIER SANYU – NAGALAND
Share in a rare and enchanting performance with Visier Sanyu, Australia’s only speaker of Khonoma Angami, an ancient and endangered language, with no more than 5,000 speakers.
Experience a mesmerizing performance of traditional throat singing and spiritual chants in this Tibeto-Burman language from the Naga Hills of northeastern India.
CHEREMOSH CHOIR – UKRAINE
Join the growing number of audiences captured and stunned by the beautiful vocal arrangements and harmonic song of the Cheremosh Choir of Ukraine.
Under the artistic direction of Professor Volodymyr Holovko, this uplifting performance comes from a mixture of young and old, with a dedication to keeping alive customs and traditions of Ukraine and delighting audiences all over Australia.
