Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) was the proud recipient of the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) ambassador award which acknowledged the organisations outstanding contribution to communities and artists in Victoria. The Ambassador award recognises significant achievement and excellence in multicultural affairs.

The award was presented by the Premier of Victoria Mr Steve Bracks at the annual VMC awards ceremony held at Parliament House on Friday December 2nd 2005 and acknowledged Multicultural Arts Victoria’s advocacy and support of the arts in particular MAV’s exemplary work throughout 2005 with new and emerging communities in Victoria.

THE WAY FORWARD

MAV recently pioneered The Way Forward - Arts in a multicultural Victoria, a community Needs Analysis which researched the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse artists and communities in Victoria.

This analysis undertaken by MAV was presented on December 13th 2005 at the Arts Centre at 9.30am and is an important step in ensuring access and participation of all Victorians in the arts.
