Tumbarumba
Tumbarumba are a five-piece percussion based band who are the core of
an ever-evolving Melbourne based samba school and percussion group. This
dynamic percussion and dance group perform and workshop the spounds, rhythms
and dances of Brazil. The sounds of Samba and its musical derivatives
are the product of a meeting of diverse cultures.
The collective passion for Brazilian music is the bond that originally
brought and still keeps Tumbarumba together. Following in the footsteps
of Brazilian percussion organisations like the world famous Olodum, who
fused Samba and Reggae, Tumbarumba combine a wealth of Brazilian musical
material with the inevitable influences of the multicultural experience.
Through their performances and workshops Tumbarumba form a link to the
spirit of Brazil that all Australians of all ages relate to.
Tumbarumba recently released a new CD, out now at local CD outlets. They
have been a feature of most Melbourne, intertstate, regional festivals
and events. The Samba School has also performed and delivered workshops
for many schools and community organisations throughout Victoria.
