Rumberos
are Melbourne’s best known and most exciting 14 piece Afro-Cuban
Latino orchestra. Rumberos are innovative, vibrant, high impact and high-energy.
Rumberos feature the authentic big band sound of 6 piece horn arrangements
layered over 7 piece Afro-Cuban percussion, fiery soloists and richly
tight vocal harmonies. Their music covers the sweep of contemporary Afro-Cuban
and Latino dance music; originals and covers, from hot salsas and mambos,
to innovative Cuban songo and timba – the latest cutting edge hip-hop
and funk sounds from Cuba.
Rumberos have been a regular feature of Melbourne’s main festivals
including Melbourne International Festival and Moomba Festival. They frequently
perform at Melbourne’s well-known night club dance venue, The Night
Cat, Fitzroy. Rumberos are the critics band of choice; they never fails
to drive the crowd up and moving in a dance frenzy.

great acts, Aretha Franklin, Dennis Chambers and the Chamber Orchestra
of New York..
