King Bell and Soukous Ba Congo
Flamboyant Kings Bell's charismatic performance along with the 5-piece
band and two female dancers brings out the true African spirit that is
guaranteed to make you move.
Congo born with Angolan parents, King Bell
has performed with the Angolan National Ballet as a dancer, singer and
percussionist (1978-1985) which took him to such places as Italy and Russia.
In 1993 King Bell founded "Soukous Ba Congo" which became very
successful and created great interest within mainstream music followers.
Since arriving in Australia in 1987 he has been involved with various
African Bands such as Majuba, Musiki Manjaro, Matata Sound and Valanga
Khoza and was lead singer of the very successful 80's African band Tingoma.
In 1993 King Bell founded Soukous Lokole which became very successful
and created great interest within mainstream music followers.
In 1996
he renamed the band "Soukous Ba Congo" which released its debut
CD "Zonga Zonga" in 1999 and followed by recent performance
such as "Mandela Cup" at Colonial Stadium in 2000 and Womadelaide
2001.
