Fouad Harraka’s - Middle Eastern Knights
Born in Lebanon, Fouad Harraka is regarded as Melbourne’s best exponent
and teacher of Middle-Eastern and Arabic music. As lead vocalist and violinist,
Fouad also plays oud, keyboards and percussion. He has arranged and composed
for many artists and projects including a number of documentary and movie
soundtracks. In 2001, Fouad blended Arabic and Australian Indigenous themes
and influences, arranging and performing the film score for Tale of Two
Peoples, a collaboration between Arabic and Indigenous Youth, presented
by the Australian Arabic Council and Richard Frankland’s Golden
Seahorse Productions.
A feature of the new OZCO funded Kultour national touring initiative,
Middle-Eastern Knights have recently returned from Perth where they performed
to a full house at Her Majesty Theatre with classical and Middle-Eastern
dance legend Claire Naffah. Middle-Eastern Knights with Claire Naffah
will also perform late September this year at the Queensland Performing
Arts Centre, in Brisbane, presented by BEMAC. They will feature in this
year’s Carnivale program 2002, in Sydney.
