Marlon Porter AKA Elf Tranzporter
With a passion for hip hop, Marlon Porter AKA Elf Tranzporter uses the
infectious quality of music as a vehicle to elevate people’s awareness,
focusing on the ceremonial effect of rhythm and rhyme, as the direct expression
of the soul.
Since co-founding the hip hop group, MetaBass’n’Breath in
1995, Elf Tranzporter has maintained a level of profile within the area
of music industry as well as the zone of political activism.
Combining musical, poetical and political realms, Elf blends a unique
style of eclectic musicality with politically charged lyricism with a
mission to “serenade the barricade” in his own words.
Active on stage and in the recording studio, Elf expresses a poetic freestyle
of rhyme, story telling, beatbox (vocal percussion) and fresh beat production.
Supporting Elf’s sonic journeys include schools and youth centres
around Sydney, the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra, The Basement,
Sydney, appearing at the Big Day Out, 2001 and 2002, Channel V, Adelaide
Festival 2002. Elf organised and performed at the hip hop stage for this
year’s Mascon Festival at Sydney’s Victoria Park.
His collaborations have included legendary international acts Allen Ginsberg,
Jurassic 5, Living Legends, Q-Bert and Mike Ladd. Stage supports include
Spearhead, The Liks, Run DMC, Mo Wax, and The Roots.
