Bernadette
started her musical experience playing classical violin. She later took
up percussion and developed an energetic melodic style that drew from
her violin beginnings. Bernadette specializes in Latin, Afro-Cuban, West
African, Middle Eastern, Malambo (Argentinian drum and dance) and Brazillian
percussion.
Bernadette has played with the Latin bands Orquesta Del Barrio, La Gran Banda, La Nueva Generacion, Son Candela and Miguel Angel; Performed in the Middle Eastern groups La Kasbah (Moroccan Ensemble), Yalla; Was Principal Surdo player with Bateria notre dez (Samba); Shared the stage with the African ensembles Wild Moves and the African Royal Drummers, Ray Pereira, Mohammed Bangoura and Ebrina "King" Marong. Bernadette has performed at many festivals including the Fringe, St Kilda, Boite World Winter Music, Hispanic and the Red & Black Carnival Party.
