Arte Kanela
Chari Saldana was the inaugural Arts Victoria Women Artists' Grant Recipient for the production of House of Bernarda Alba in 1998, at the Malthouse. In 2001 she secured funding from the Australia Council's Dance Fund for professional development in Madrid and Seville in 2001.
Richard Tedesco has been working with a range of non-flamenco musicians and DJs. He recently secured funding from the Music Fund of Australia Council to produce the first self titled Arte Kanela CD launched at Flamenco Rocks.
Johnny Tedesco has run a series of performances and workshops in Adelaide and Brisbane and recently secured funding from the Dance Fund of the Australia Council for professional development in Spain for three months in 2003.
Arte Kanela has performed at various festivals and events such as Brisbane Power House, Melbourne Festival, Adelaide Festival Centre, Malthouse, Melbourne Concert Hall and the Seymour Centre Sydney and they have toured Regional Victoria.
As an ensemble Arte Kanela have secured funding for projects such as Duende and Flamenco Rocks from, Myer Foundation, Pratt Foundation and the City of Melbourne. They have also secured profile in various local and national media outlets such as: The Australian, ABC RN, Tripple J, 774 ABC, ABC TV, Channel 9, Channel 7, The Age, Herald Sun, In-Press, Beat, Advertiser (SA), Courier Mail (Queen.), Sydney Morning Herald, Sunday Herald Sun and so on.
